How to Get FREE Native Plants for Your Garden

Here is a great resource on how to get FREE native plants for your garden. I have been using this program for a few years now. This program is a great way to add native plants to your landscape and save a few dollars at the same time. Surprisingly, all you have to do is take a look over the virtual class and answer a few simple questions on what you have learned. That’s it! This voucher can be redeemed in person at the following locations below. However, I have always gone to Fisher’s Gardens, they have a wonderful selection of plants and a most helpful staff. Eventually, I plan to fill my whole flower bed with native plants.

“Community Backyards is an annual program administered by Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District that promotes water quality education for residents in Franklin County, Ohio. Our goal is to protect water quality by reducing stormwater runoff at home. We can do that in our own backyards by keeping rain where it falls and using it as a resource. We encourage and incentivize the use of rain barrels, rain gardens, native plants, composting, and low input lawn care to keep our waterways healthy.”

Here are a few of the beautiful plants I have gotten completely free! Additionally, the swamp milkweed attracts monarch butterflies!
