Franklin County, Ohio
Here is a great resource on how to get FREE native plants for your garden. I have been using this program for a few years now. It is a great way to add native plants to your landscape and save a few dollars at the same time. All you have to do is take a look over the virtual class and answer a few simple questions on what you have learned. That’s it! The voucher can be redeemed in person at the following location below. I have always gone to Fisher’s Gardens, they have a wonderful selection of plants and a most helpful staff.
Here are a few of the beautiful plants I have gotten completely free!

How to Get FREE Native Plants for your Garden!
“The Community Backyards program focuses on rainwater runoff and its detrimental impacts on local water quality, streambank erosion, and localized flooding. Participants learn how to install rain barrels and plant rain gardens, along with an introduction to composting at home and the benefits of native plants and trees.
Our new rebate program allows the homeowner to implement a conservation method that works best for them and their environment and does renew each year, meaning that if you received a rebate last year, you can participate again the following year. Eligibility for the rebate is based on your tax district within Franklin County and whether you live in a participating district. Please note, rebates are one per eligible household.
Eligible residents can receive up to a $50 reimbursement on the purchase of a rain barrel, compost bin, or native trees and shrubs -OR- up to a $25 reimbursement for native perennials only. Rebate submitted must be for one type of item only and cannot be combined.” ( Shared from the 2021 Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District. )
