White Clam Pizza

White Clam Pizza is awesome! What do pizza, lettuce wraps, and tacos have in common? The possibilities are endless! There will be someone who argues that once you start adding clams and arugula to a pizza it is no longer a pizza. To that I say check out the “Best Pizza in America”. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven, Connecticut has been in business since 1925. They have been turning out coal-fired pizza since the beginning and are known as one of the best pizza joints in the country. Their white clam pizza has been bringing guests back time and time again. I have not had the pleasure of trying this famed pizza for myself so until I make it to New Haven this recreation will have to hold me over.

The ingredients are simple but bold. I was not sure if my husband would like this pizza. So, I made half with just pepperoni. Guess what was leftover…not the side with the clams. We made this on the Low Carb Pizza Crust “Fathead Style” crust but you can use any crust you prefer, it’s your kitchen not mine! Here is a recipe for traditional a traditional pizza crust as well!

Do yourself a favor and start to think out of the box and get creative with your toppings. Buffalo chicken, pulled pork and red onion, Korean bbq, your taste buds will thank you! Sometimes the best ideas come from what you have hanging out in the fridge. Stay tuned for more delicious pizza ideas coming your way soon. Thanks for stopping by!
