I love these Butter Glazed Radishes but radishes were never a favorite veggie of mine. I can’t remember a time I ever bought them to eat at home. The peppery bite of a raw radish is just not something I enjoy. About a year and a half ago when I was starting a low carb lifestyle I noticed people all over different group boards say how much radish tasted like a red potato and they fried them up like home fries. We ate fried potatoes every weekend, so this was music to my ears. I tried it and hated it. I thought these people are crazy and never gave the poor radish much thought after that. As time went by I really wanted to give this veggie another shot. I mean they are incredibly inexpensive and very healthy for you.
So here we are, I picked up a pack at my local ALDI for .69¢. It does not get much cheaper than that. When you let them simmer slowly in the water it makes them very tender and completely takes away that bitter peppery bite. I may have eaten the whole eight-ounce pack to myself that day. It was just shocking at how much I was enjoying them. I am looking forward to giving this veggie another chance in my kitchen moving forward and I hope you do the same!
Butter Glazed Radishes Recipe Notes
- To trim the radish just cut the tip of the top and bottom off and then cut in half lengthwise.
- Simmer over low until they are tender. Mine took about 13 minutes until the water was just evaporated and the butter was left in the pan to glaze them.
- Chopped chives would be good sprinkled on top if you had some

Easy Butter Glazed Radishes
Ingredients
- 16 ounces radishes trimmed and halved
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon sweetener I used stevia, use whatever you prefer sugar, honey, ect.
Instructions
- Place the trimmed and halved radishes in a saute pan and cover them halfway with water. Add the butter, salt, and sweetener. Bring to a boil over high and as soon as it comes to a boil reduce the heat to low and let it gently simmer for 12-15 minutes.
- In the time that the radishes simmer the water will cook the radishes to tender and reduce to a buttery glaze. Keep cooking until most of the liquid is evaporated and then toss the radishes with the glaze in the pan. Add more salt if needed and enjoy!
Radishes are something I’ve never really eaten, but this recipe has inspired me to try them out!, thanks for sharing!
This looks really good. I only eat radishes fresh or roasted, so this is a new cooking method for radishes to me. Will definitely try it.
I don’t eat a lot of radishes but I’ll definitely try this! I eat low carb and I’m glad to see that this has just 2 net carbs. Thanks for sharing!
