Double Duty Gadget Hack for Creamy Egg Salad

Even though I have plenty of storage in my kitchen I still like to keep as few gadgets and tools as possible. I try to keep the clutter in my drawers to a minimum so when I do need a tool it is not lost in the back corner, under two other tools that have not been used in 6 months. I’ve never been much of a baker but when I have made attempts I found out that I needed a pastry cutter. This would be an example of one of those tools that sit mostly unused in my kitchen.

In the back of my mind, I am always thinking about how to make things easier in the kitchen. Fewer dishes, less mess, equals easier cleanup! I was pretty thrilled when I realized this pastry cutter would be the perfect gadget to chop up my eggs for egg salad. If you follow the blog you know I have been on a serious egg salad kick. I make these lavash chips to dip in my egg salad, it is the best quick lunch. Check out the pictures below to bring some new life into your pastry cutter if, like mine, it sits in the back of your drawer waiting for the next homemade pie crust.

  1. Hard boil 12 eggs and place them in a bowl. Press the pastry cutter into the eggs going all the way to the bottom each time. For tips on perfect hard boiled eggs click here.

2. Here are the first few passes.

3. Continue to chop the eggs until they are chopped to your liking.

4. In this batch I added 1/2 cup mayo, 2 chopped green onions, 1/2 teaspoon dry ground mustard, 1/2 teaspoon celery salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, few dashes of hot sauce, and mix well.

5. Chill and enjoy!
