This recipe for blue cheese dressing is easy, quick, delicious, and keto and low carb friendly as well! We use this dressing for wings, salads, and veggie dips. Before deciding on this recipe, I had tried so many combinations of ingredients such as Worcestershire, lemon juice, cream, and garlic. After trying so many combinations we decided that with blue cheese dressing, simple is best. We have a recipe for homemade ranch mix too if you prefer that dressing.
Blue Cheese Dressing Tips
I like to mash up the blue cheese crumbles against the side of the bowl when mixing this up. I’m not a fan of getting big chunks of blue cheese, but if you like them then keep then by all means keep them in bigger chunks.
I use a large amount of black pepper, about 20 cracks from my pepper mill.
Chilling the dressing for at least an hour will let all the flavors meld together, it’s not completely necessary in a pinch but worth the flavors make it worth the wait.
Add as much or as little liquid (milk or water) as you want until you reach your desired consistency. Add it 1 tablespoon at a time so you do not make it too runny.

Blue Cheese Dressing
Ingredients
- 4 ounces blue cheese Salemville® Smokehaus Blue is my favorite for this recipe.
- 1 cup mayonnaise Hellmans is best
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 green onions minced
- 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
- alot cracked black pepper to taste, I use about 20 twists
- 1-3 tablespoons water to thin to your liking,
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl break up the blue cheese into small crumbles.
- Add the mayonnaise, sour cream, green onions, onion salt, and half the black pepper. Mix with a spatula smashing any big chunks of blues cheese along the side of the bowl as you go. A few small chunks are fine but you want most of it broken up.
- Taste to see if you owuld like more pepper and add as desired. Add 1 tablespoon of water or milk and mix in. Keep doing this until you reach your desired consitiancy. I usually like about 3 tablespoons.
- Cover and chill for at least an hour then enjoy as a dressing on your salad, wings, or veggie dip.

I seriously love blue cheese dipping sauce. Is there anything worse than ordering wings and getting ranch, boo! I can’t wait to try your recipe!

I love blue cheese dressing but haven’t ever made it. Now I can, thanks for the recipe!
This is so much better than any store-bought dressing. And, it’s especially good when you have a favorite blue cheese you want to use.
